IGARSS 2014, presentations on SAR technology in the annual symposium (July 2014)
ALTAMIRA INFORMATION attended the 2014 IGARSS annual symposium which is the meeting point of the remote sensing community where the latest advancements and future trends in Earth Observation technologies were presented.
ALTAMIRA INFORMATION generates an interferogram with Sentinel-1 data (September 2014)
ALTAMIRA INFORMATION has created one of the first InSAR interferograms using data from Sentinel-1A, the new European Space Agency (ESA) satellite. Made with datasets, the interferogram was done over the wine producing region of the Napa Valley in California which was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter scale last August. Scientist are applying InSAR technology to aid in mapping the surface rupture in order to confirm if the earthquake was possibly caused by the West Napa Fault, amongst other factors.
Sentinel-1, as described by the European Space Agency, is a two satellite constellation which is used for monitoring and imaging the Earth’s surface every 6 days and provides continuity of the C-Band SAR satellites. One of the main advantages of Sentinel-1, launched on 3 April 2014, is that it reduces the time taken to produce interferograms to conduct this type of analysis. It also has a mapping range of 250kilometres for covering large areas.

ALTAMIRA INFORMATION present in IGARSS 2014 (July 2014)
IGARSS, the International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, is an annual international conference covering a great part of the Remote Sensing spectrum. Its 2014 edition was held in Québec City, Canada. ALTAMIRA INFORMATION in collaboration with other recognized institutions contributed with a wide range of topics: Tandem-X bistatic data for river current measurements and land cover classification, HR InSAR data simulation for the forthcoming SWOT mission and monitoring thermal dilation of complex urban infrastructure and breakwater settlement with HR data.
