CASE STUDY: LONDON METRO EXTENSION (ESA)

ESA
Objective of the project
The London Jubilee Subway work produced a controlled ground displacement within the modelled range.
The objective was to locate and quantify accurately subsidence using InSAR methods.

London Jubilee Line
Analysis and results

Spatial distribution of subsidence correlates very well with the tunnelling works (construction period: 1995 – 2000).

Average rate of displacement: 7mm/yr during the period when subway tunnelling has been constructed.

Subsidence movements of ~ 7 mm/yr have been identified as a consequence
of Jubilee line extension tunnelling.
