CASE STUDY: LONDON METRO EXTENSION (ESA)
![]() |
Objective of the project
The London Jubilee Subway work produced a controlled ground displacement within the modelled range. The objective was to locate and quantify accurately subsidence using InSAR methods. |
Analysis and results
Spatial distribution of subsidence correlates very well with the tunnelling works (construction period: 1995 – 2000).
Average rate of displacement: 7mm/yr during the period when subway tunnelling has been constructed.

Subsidence movements of ~ 7 mm/yr have been identified as a consequence
of Jubilee line extension tunnelling.
