Objective of the project The Niger Delta is characterised by a very flat topography together with unstable ground conditions. Consequently the Niger Delta is extremely vulnerable to subsidence and therefore flood risks. The objective of the project is to reveal and monitor subsidence phenomena in the Nigerian Coast region.

Analysis and results
Port Harcourt, one of the main cities of the Niger Delta has been analysed with historical data.
In addition, more data have been programmed to monitor futur evolution of subsidence. The project perspective is to extend subsidence analysis to the whole Nigerian Coast with its main cities, highly densed, situated in the Niger Delta. ![]() |
