CASE STUDY: CH4/CO2 STORAGE (FRANCE)

Objective of the project
The objective was to measure surface subsidence and uplift in a gas storage area in the South of France.
These measurements allow to be alerted regarding leaks in the subterranean storage and possible damages in infrastructures.

Analysis and results

The analysis of ground motion has been conducted with natural measurement points, i.e. without any installation needs.

In addition, Artificial Corner Reflectors were installed  in order to guarantee measurement points in areas without natural measurement points.

The measurement results were a combination of natural and artificial measurement points.

Subsidence and uplift measurements in gas storage areas deliver data for monitoring
of stability and security of the storage area.
